SSNIT receives a GH34,581,713.52 dividend from MTN Ghana.

 


MTN Ghana has handed a check worth GH34,581,713.52 to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for the interim dividend for 2022 and 2023. The interim dividend for 2023 was GHC 9.9 million, compared to GHC 24 million for 2022. The majority shareholder of MTN Ghana is SSNIT. The final dividend for 2022 was 12.4 pesewas per share, bringing the total dividend for 2022 to 16.4 pesewas for every share that a shareholder holds in MTN Ghana. We then pay 5 pesewas per share as the interim dividend for 2023, according to Mrs. Antoinette Kwofie, Chief Financial Officer of MTN, who presented the check in Accra. She claimed that it was an agreement between MTN and their main investor to persuade them to continue investing in MTN-affiliated companies and maybe raise their investment to localise the company even further.

"For our final dividend for 2022, MTN Ghana gave all shareholders the option to opt for scrip dividend, which was to take their dividend in shares entirely in cash," she continued. It was implied that it was only for institutional investors when she added that they had individual investors who agreed to receive their dividend in shares, so increasing their interest in the company. MTN Ghana, according to Mrs. Kwofie, is dedicated to creating a sustainable business and offering stakeholders and customers sustainable solutions. "Shareholders can expect its vow to maintain our dividend payout ratio over 60% by increasing investor communication to the market, expanding revenues, and protecting its margins. We will endeavour to fulfil that pledge to the market, she continued. Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, Director-General of SSNIT, praised MTN Ghana on the accomplishment and predicted that the dividend will increase in the coming years. He stated that "for us investors, returns is one of the key components of the tools that we have to deliver pension payment for life to our stakeholders."

He declared that SSNIT would uphold its responsibility to collect employee contributions and pay out benefits through ongoing and careful investment. According to Mr. Ofori-Tenkorang, enterprises must register their staff with SSNIT in order to expand operations and collect enough contributions to provide benefits to their clients. He said his company was looking forwards to working with MTN on a mutually beneficial basis.
