Apotosu M/A School receives borehole construction from a benefactor.

The Apotosu M/A Basic School in the Offinso Municipal of the Ashanti Region has a borehole being built thanks to the kind donation of Grace Antwi, a philanthropist. The philanthropist, who also happens to live in the Apotosu neighbourhood, granted the school's management's request for the borehole, which was built at an undisclosed cost. The 400 students at the school and the rest of the Apotosu community will both benefit from this borehole.

Before the borehole was built, community people and students had to compete for water at a neighbouring borehole, which had a detrimental effect on contact hours. The lengthy process of getting water for a bath prevented many pupils from going to school. Grace Antwi, the proprietor of Abigrace Zion Praise School in Adum, Kumasi, stressed the value of having access to clean drinking water in promoting academic activities during a press interview. When a teacher mentioned that a borehole would be a more urgent necessity, Grace Antwi fully agreed and chose to sponsor the construction of the borehole. Originally, she had planned to give out books and pens to the pupils.

"I've always cared about other people's wellbeing, so I felt obligated to lend a helping hand to those who needed it the most. I was going to give away pens and books to folks who were in need. However, a teacher contacted me during my visit and let me know how severely the school was lacking in drinking water. After the first break, this problem was leading students to leave their classes, which interfered with the activities of teaching and learning.

"At first, the cost of solving this issue looked prohibitive, and I hesitated to move on with the project. However, a knowledgeable preacher by the name of Dr. Osei Kufuor informed me that since water is necessary for life, I should think about getting a loan to pay for the drilling of a borehole.

"I decided to follow his advice and make the necessary preparations to get a loan and start this endeavour. Knowing that I built a borehole for the pupils successfully makes me really happy right now. They now have access to clean and safe drinking water, which was previously out of reach thanks to this borehole.

"By addressing this fundamental need, I hope to have made a positive impact on the lives of these students, enabling them to focus on their education without the constant interruption of searching for water. I believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive, and I am grateful to have been able to contribute to their well-being in this meaningful way," she stated. Grace Antwi took the opportunity to appeal to NGOs, government officials, and private individuals to come forward and support the upliftment of Apotosu M/A Basic School. Meanwhile, Akanlu Pascal, the headmaster of Apotosu M/A Basic School expressed his sincere gratitude to the philanthropist for her generous gesture. He revealed that the school is facing a severe shortage of classrooms, making it difficult to accommodate all the students.

"Additionally, the school lacks proper toilet facilities and washrooms for both teachers and students. In light of these challenges, all stakeholders must take responsibility and provide assistance to the school", he appealed to some institution
