The Akufo-Addo-led Administration has received commendation from the chiefs of the Oti Region for its dedication to enhancing the healthcare system in their area through the Agenda 111 projects.
The local chiefs praised the President for his vision and commitment to improving healthcare services at a government impact forum on hospital projects held in Kpassa in the Oti area on Monday, September 11, 2023.
The local chiefs expressed their gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the Agenda 111 projects, especially the one in Kpassa, on behalf of the Paramount Chief, Ubor Konja Tassun VI. Our region will undergo a huge transition as a result of theThe Ghana Health Infrastructure Project, also known as Agenda 111, was started by President Akufo-Addo's administration to fill infrastructure deficiencies in the nation's healthcare system. It includes building two psychiatric hospitals, 101 district hospitals in places that need them, seven regional hospitals, and restoring the Accra Psychiatric Hospitals projects, and we applaud the President for his admirable efforts.
Four hospitals from the Agenda 111 project have been allocated to the area: one each in Kpassa, Kejebi, Chenderi, and Jasikan.
The first of four projects in the area, Kpassa, is moving forward steadily and has the majority of its physical structures in place. Local officials voiced their confidence in the good effects the finished hospital will have on the community's health and well-being
"This hospital will not only give our people better treatment, but it will also give them work. One of the traditional chiefs during the tour stated, "We feel it will improve the quality of life for our inhabitants.The local community is being urged to work with the government and other stakeholders to ensure the health facility's optimal performance after it has been completed. The traditional chiefs have also expressed their support for the project.
The Regional Minister Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu, the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Presidential Advisor on Health Dr. Nsia Asare, the Project Consultant Paul Osei, Traditional and Religious Heads, and Members of the Assessment and Monitoring Secretariat at the Presidency were all present during the visit.
Dr. Asare, for his part, emphasized the projects' effects on the Region's residents' socioeconomic and health conditions. Regarding its socioeconomic effects, Mr. Asare claimed that it will result in the development of a large number of jobs for locals throughout the health value chain.
Regarding the provision of healthcare, Mr. Asare claimed that the initiatives will assist the nation in achieving the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of Universal Health Coverage.
